A Little Life
Love this door in the Jewish Quarter
After 4 nights of feeling like royalty, it wasn’t easy to say goodbye to Palazzo Avino. But our last night in Ravello, we met a lovely couple from Dallas who were at the hotel for their 10-year wedding anniversary. They assured us that, we too, would return one day (and stay in a much larger and more expensive room). I agreed… and then asked Peter if he would sign a “honeymoon-nup” agreeing to these terms too. Haven’t gotten it in writing yet, but I’m fairly certain that after that experience, legal action won’t be necessary…
So off to Rome we went… We arranged to have a driver take us ...Read More
When we started thinking about our honeymoon, we turned to Katie of Ever After Honeymoons for some serious guidance. We got married in March but our honeymoon wouldn’t be until mid June. It’s not too often that two adults with full careers, an MBA program (for Peter), and a child are able to take 2 weeks off… from it all! So we felt pretty lucky. Of course, our budget wasn’t unlimited, so we had to do some careful planning. With Katie’s help, we decided we’d go to Italy and Greece and stay in 3 cities.
First Stop: Amalfi Coast, Italy
With Katie’s guidance, we opted for the stunningly gorgeous Palazzo Avino in Ravello. ...Read More
When Jonah was about 3-years old, I came up with a great idea one Sunday morning. It was about 9:30 in the morning and after being up at 6am, reading, watching a little television, playing with some of his toys, doing an art project, making pancakes and eating them, I was at a loss. The kid needed MORE.
“What should we do nooooow, Mommy?”
I probably should have dug deeper into the bag of good parenting, and encouraged some individual play then– play that didn’t require me to bring in the circus and jazz him for hours— but alas, that awesome mom guilt (which is totally worse when you’re single, I think), ...Read More
A #100HappyDays #bathroomselfie
I’m a worrier… Always have been and, well, unless the Dalai Lama shows up at my doorstep with zen-like wisdom strong enough to knock the bejesus out of the anxiety that makes up this 37-year old, Jewish white female, the chances are I always will be.
So… For better or for worse: I’m a worrier. And it’s part of what makes me me.
Sometimes, and I mean soooooometimes, worry does come in handy… I mean… It makes me a great planner, organizer, and problem solver. It makes me pay close attention to my body, my health and that of my loved ones too. It makes me detailed, curious, and super ...Read More
My blog post was written as part of my part of my collaboration with eBay but these views are my own.
What’s the way to my guy’s heart? Golf. Whether it’s me being super supportive and cheery (read: “I guess… if you have to”) of those Saturday morning rounds, or super supportive and cheery about those green jacket filled events (read: “The Masters are taking over my life”), I know that a little display of love and appreciation towards rolling greens with 18 holes, will go a long way. (Btw-Seriously 18 holes seems pretty extreme. Are 9 not enough?!)
While down in Palm Springs for Memorial Day weekend, we popped in to ...Read More
Looking at Turtles (“the tutus”); Jonah 13 months old
Now that wedding craze is over and work load steady, I’ve committed to volunteering in Jonah’s classroom once a week for an hour or so. The first week, I mentioned to J’s amazing teacher that I was great at organizing so she asked me to organize her files. I know that sounds like an easy task but it was one of those days where a) my brain was still in bed and b) I honestly had no clue as to what she was talking about and where things were supposed to go. HOWEVER, because she had at one point mentioned to us that ...Read More
One month ago, I married the man of my dreams and we spent the night dancing and laughing with our closest family and friends. Per his request, but mostly in my planning (perfectionist) state, I handed off a desired playlist to our trusted music aficionado, Jesse Kivel of Dart DJ. Of course we had our picks for special moments like the first dance (Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong My Love Is) , recessional music (Stevie Wonder’s “For Once in My Life”) and other important songs (Peter walked down to “Born to Run” by well, The Boss, of course). But, in my wildest dreams, I would have never thought that the song ...Read More
For the past few months, Thursday nights have become a “date night” for me and Jonah. Peter is at school on Thursdays (getting his MBA in the evenings), so often times, I use the opportunity to take Jonah out for a bite to eat after his karate… just the two of us. As luck would have it, my kid loves sushi (and by love, I mean I usually need to cut him off) and I love my son (and sushi) so it’s really a win-win sitch.
Well, as I sat across the table from a hungry 6-year old last night who couldn’t get albacore with crispy onions into his mouth fast ...Read More
Almost two weeks ago, I started to write a post….
March 26th. 10:30am…
As I type this post, I’m sitting under a heat lamp with foils in my hair and a latte by my side. With just 72 hours to go until I say “I Do,” I’m in full bridal beautification mode and if I’m being honest, it’s kind of the best part of the planning process. This week, I’ve had, in no partcicular order (certainly not by rank of what hurts the worst): My eyebrows shaped and tweezed, waxing, laser hair removal, (Judaism = Hair issues), a manicure/pedicure, and now a cut, highlights, gloss and blowout.
In just a couple hours (oh, ...Read More
A few weeks ago, I was showered with love by some family and dear friends at one of the best bridal showers I’ve ever been to! I promise, I’m not just saying that because it was for me… Okay, well that definitely helped, but honestly, the hosts of this party happen to be chic, creative, and extraordinarily generous so each and every element blew me away. From the flowers, to the party favors, to food and of course, some very special gifts, I walked away not only feeling very lucky an special, but also with some great ideas for future parties of my own!
Because of the attention and time that ...Read More
