Super Simple Nursery Decor When I was pregnant with Jonah, I started dreaming up my vision for his nursery the minute the plus sign appeared on a stick. Months before he was born, his nursery was complete– not a detail amiss. It was darling from top to bottom and somehow I even figured out how to perfectly organize it… I hadn’t even had a child yet I instinctively knew the best placement for diapers and wipes and the most logical place for blankets and other needs in the middle of the night. I mean, it was like the mother of the year award was meant just for me. I was the ...Read More
Everyday Organization with Cottonelle Mega Roll During my pregnancy, I got to know every bathroom around town. Like, real well. It came as no surprise to my husband that I selected our local Joan’s On Third (aka “the place that half my paychecks go to weekly”) as my most favorite place to use the bathroom and eat. Not only could I get my weekly croissant and chinese chicken salad craving accomplished (this diet is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics as part of a healthy pregnancy, people. Trust me), but I could comfortably go to the bathroom.  As a germaphobe, I started to notice that I was gravitating towards restaurants where not ...Read More
New Home Essentials with CVS When we bought our house, we said we were only going to do “a little” work… Nothing major. Just some slight upgrades. Everyone told us we were crazy: There is always more to do (or that needs to get done) than you think. Turns out, everyone knows a lot more than we do about buying a new home. Within a few days of moving in we found out we needed a new fridge, new washer dryer, and new windows (because apparently propping them open with rolls of Saran Wrap doesn’t exactly give your house that “curb appeal” thing we were hoping for). Needless to say, while it’s not exactly ...Read More
DIY Subway Art for Kids! This year I was asked to help spearhead the class project for our school’s gala. Every year, each classroom is asked to create an art project and it is auctioned off at the gala. Thanks to Pinterest, and a very full plate, I decided to do something relatively easy, but that I thought was unique and “sellable.”  I mish-mashed a few different ideas I saw, and came up with the idea of the kids creating their own subway art using adjectives/words that they came up with to describe themselves. Most subway art that you’d find on Etsy or in stores, uses fonts that are either stenciled or scanned ...Read More
Thanks to Pinterest, I’m now well aware of the fact I’m not the only woman in the world who falls asleep at night dreaming of beautiful table-scapes, perfectly baked pies, and unbelievably organized pantries. Apparently, we all want things to look and taste just perfect. While I had every intention on showing you one amazingly thought out and decorated Thanksgiving mantle and table display, the reality of time, a full time job, a child with green stuff oozing from his sinuses (TMI?) and what I think might be a broken thumb (mine, not his), set in. Things can only be so perfect for so long. Or at least close to perfect, ...Read More
This year, Thanksgiving and Chanukah are sharing the spotlight. For my family, this means that at 5 o’clock when the turkey coma usually sets in, we’re going to have to rally for a little dreidel and gift exchanging action. This also means that as the Thanksgiving host, (I must be out of my mind to take this on this year), in addition to getting my menu prepped and table decor in line, I’m going to have to going to have to think about gifts about a month sooner than I normally would! As a curator for eBay’s new collections program, I’ve gotten a head start on all the things I want ...Read More
I’m in full party planning mode these days. Not just with the wedding, (oh, the wedding!) but with other fun stuff like the So Good Moms’ Night I recently hosted with my girl Eden Passante of Sugar and Charm. We decided it would be so fun to get the girls together for a night of food and fashion to celebrate the season finale of Project Runway on Lifetime.  Channeling her own inner fashionista, the very talented Eden put together a little “Make it Work” station replete with the awesome new line of Yoplait Greek Frozen Yogurt, served in glass canning jars. The toppings we served were healthy and added to ...Read More
This post is sponsored by Nestlé, which compensated me to partner with California Pizza Kitchen® frozen pizza and share news about the “Adventures in Entertaining” campaign this summer. About a month ago, we moved from a unit in our building to another unit in our building. The upside to the move: bigger space, extra bedrooms, a chance to start fresh (hello, DIYprojects!), and a gorgeous rooftop deck. The downside to the move: moving. Let’s face it, even if you’re moving 200 feet, moving is tough and requires a lot of planning and patience. That’s where a good party comes in. When one thinks of summer, outdoors, and food, the ...Read More
Last year, I tried to volunteer at school as much as I could. Spending time in Jonah’s class -cutting paper, cleaning up, passing out goodies on special occasions, etc.- opened my eyes not only to the world of Transitional Kindergarten and public school, but also to the differences between boys and girls… At an early age, it’s clear that there is an inherent difference in attention to detail… Generally, the boys scribble fast, while the girls keep the colors (coordinated) and in between the lines. This basically results in Jonah coming home with a lot of projects that, well… look like… someone just wanted to get outside and play zombies ...Read More
Short of a lavender herb garden, my own chickens, and 400 plus staff members, I’m slowly fulfilling my dream to become Martha Stewart. Like really slowly. So maybe I’m not quite up to par with said queen of it all, but these days my juices are flowing and my DIY doin’ is at an all time high. New home = new projects. Lots and lots o’ them. Over the next few weeks and months, I’ll be sharing some highlights from these different projects and events.  Here is a video that I recently shot for Lifetime Moms on how to create burlap monogrammed art. So easy and makes a great gift! >
