One month ago, I married the man of my dreams and we spent the night dancing and laughing with our closest family and friends. Per his request, but mostly in my planning (perfectionist) state, I handed off a desired playlist to our trusted music aficionado, Jesse Kivel of Dart DJ. Of course we had our picks for special moments like the first dance (Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong My Love Is) , recessional music (Stevie Wonder’s “For Once in My Life”) and other important songs (Peter walked down to “Born to Run” by well, The Boss, of course). But, in my wildest dreams, I would have never thought that the song of the night would be Salt N’ Pepa’s “Shoop.” I mean, this was certainly the song we listened to growing up on on the mean streets of Beverly Hills, so trust me. I get it. But you want to see grown men “twerking” and women well into their 30’s dancing with more abandon than Elaine? Put that song on and you have a party!
I can’t lie, I had many requests like basically every JT song and the requisite “Hypnotize” song on the list. Please, you think I was going to have a party without a song like “Happy?!” …because like everyone else, it makes me HAPPY! Thankfully for those that attended, Jesse ignored my dorky request for the 900 Michael Buble songs that I personally love (You’re welcome). Jesse managed to weave all of my requested songs in creatively, PLUS other great ones which made everyone get off their feet and stay on the dance floor.
I currently have about 1100 photos from the very talented Leah Lee, and it’s no surprise that some of my favorite ones are of “the party.” Sharing a few below…
But to hear a glimpse of this special night, click on the sample playlist that includes a few of the songs from the evening…. Can you picture me dancing at my desk as I type this? There may or may not be a Jewish girl from Beverly Hills still in her pajamas still “shooping…” Just sayin…
