the Oscars
Exciting news! I’m now a contributor to Disney’s Spoonful, a fabulous resource for crafts, recipes and activities for parents and kids. For my first post, I whipped up a little Oscar Party with some “perfectly partied” panache. Oftentimes, Oscar Parties are geared toward being “adults-only” fêtes. But since the Oscars are on a Sunday and everyone I know has kids under the age of 9, the days of lounging around the house in sweats, glued to the television for eight hours (with copious cocktails present), are a distant memory. That said, this is still very much a part of my DNA and a tradition that I can’t entirely shake. So ...Read More
My entire life, I have dreamt about going to the Oscars. Not just going to the Oscars, but being in the Oscars… that is, RECEIVING an Oscar. As a little girl, and then a young adult studying theater at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, my dream was to win an award for Best Actress. Now, it’s for Best Adapted Screenplay, Original Screenplay or Sound Editing. I’ll take anything really. The point is, I really want an Oscar. Just seems so magical.

The Oscars. My favorite day/night/event of the year. I want to watch it all: the pre-pre-countdown to the red carpet countdown to the “live from the red carpet”to the main event to Bawbwa making someone cry…
Well, last year, there was no Oscar shmaltz. There was no glitz… there was no glamour… there was no gasping over her dress or his speech… There was no honing in on every word during the best sound editing acceptance speech. There was certainly no chips, dip or champagne flowing…
Last year, my (then) 5 month old was horribly sick with the flu and my husband and I were equally sick. IT SUCKED.
This year, THANK G-D, ...Read More
I had just had a busy day at work, dropped off/picked up baby from day care, put baby to sleep, sent out bills and washed bottles… As I sat down to finally catch my breath and inhale the world’s most fattening tostada, I looked over to T-Ko who was digging into his tostada with one hand and controlling the remote with the other.
All of a sudden I felt like such an adult. Not sure what it was but it hit me. Excited by the feeling of being a real adult in a real marriage with someone I really love, I started to make small talk about my day.“… so then,” ...Read More
The Oscars. Perhaps my favorite day of the entire year. Anyone who knows me well knows that I love the Academy Awards… That I watch them from top to bottom without missing a frame (literally, I want to hear every last bit of the dude who wins for Best Sound Mixing speech). I love the glitz. I love the glamour. I love the chips, dip and wine that I have grown accustomed to noshing on as I watch Ryan Seacrest ask retarded questions to celebrities that act like they just slipped on that Valentino dress without having a team of bitchy stylists help stuff them into their spanks.
Well, ...Read More
