Go Forth and Forty I’ve typed and retyped an opening sentence 58 times. I was going to start by saying something simple and straight to the point like: “My 40th birthday is in 10 days” But that is so… it’s just… so… And not what I’m really trying to say. The problem is, I’m not sure what I’m trying to say about my birthday… That I’m sort of freaking out? That I’m sort of thrilled and excited? That I now understand the horror “magic” of my rear view mirror and all that it reveals? A lot of my older girlfriends tell me that 40 is fabulous. That at 40, you are finally confident– you know who you ...Read More
Holiday Cards: Jumpstart with Snapfish.com Confession: I’m not on my A-Game these days (did the rat’s nest on my head and spit up on the shoulder of my 3 day old tee give it away?) My stove hasn’t seen a pan in months and my curling iron might just die, literally, if I were to re-introduce it to my hair. Ah, the joys of having a newborn. While eyeliner, nice hair and fabulous home cooked meals may be a thing of the past (or at least months from being a norm again), there is one thing I’m not willing to drop the 8-ball on: making and storing memories of said hygiene ...Read More
Spring Break: Our Family Vacation at the Westin Maui Last year, on one of our final days in Greece for our amazing honeymoon, Peter made me swear that I understood that not all vacations are created equal. Not entirely willing to except that private boat rides up and down the Amalfi Coast was sort of “out of the ordinary,” I graciously agreed, and nodded, “Of course. I know… This was big.” “Very big,” he said. “Like, no more vacations for —” “Until our one year anniversary,” I said. “We can go somewhere small or local  for our one year anniversary, right?” “Let’s cross that bridge when we get to it,” he said, clinking champagne glasses ...Read More

photo by Leah Lee Photography This week marks my one year wedding anniversary with Peter. This year has been a whirlwind of life… We’ve traveled across the sea, jumped into oceans, walked on ancient ruins, eaten our weight in pizza, danced silly dances with a 7 year old… We’ve experienced so much joy and even heartbreak. But here we are, one year later a family of three expecting one more… There is so much I could say about the fact that Jonah will be a big brother, and Peter a father, and me a second time mom… All of that I will get to over the next few months… Believe me, from maternity fashion, to nursery decor, ...Read More

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… It’s been a while since I told a Jonah story and so let me share a good one. Okay… two good ones. The first one is from a few months ago. The night before Jonah turned 7, we asked him if there was anything he wanted to say during his final hours as a 6 year old. “Anything?” he said excitedly. “Yes, anything.” “Anything, like, in the world?” “Yep. Anything at all.” “Okay,” he gulped. “Mother fucker.” We burst into laughter, then composed ourselves, then burst back into laughter again and then put our (tilted/twisted) parenting hat on and  I asked: “Where did you learn that?” “From you! Where else?” I can’t help but ...Read More
I could write a really long intro about the announcement I’m about to make, but let me just cut to the chase: Our wedding has been featured on J.Crew  and I am literally bursting at the seams with excitement!!! JCREW. AHHH! In August 2013, just a few weeks after Peter proposed, I was lucky to have to go New York to shoot some videos with LifetimeMoms. While I was there, I not only ate my weight in pizza and champagne with one of my besties, BUT I made an appointment at the JCrew bridal salon on 5th Ave just cuz. The Percy gown was the second dress I tried on… Simple, elegant, comfortable and ...Read More
From our wedding invitations and save the dates, to thank you notes and holiday and New Year’s cards, it’s pretty safe to say that Minted is my go to site for all things stationary. 2014 has been an incredible year filled with so many rich moments and memories. It’s important to me to find cards that reflect these sentiments and joy — but that doesn’t require a completely focused brain to create or order. (i.e. doesn’t require me to realize that when I order a $3.99 Frozen Elsa wand with stickers for my niece, that I should not select shipping for $27.99 to get it to me the next day. Ooops. ...Read More
Planning a wedding? Here are some easy wedding DIY ideas and projects! Check it out… Wedding Table Setting Barn Wood Vintage – Perfectly Disheveled Photo By Leah Lee Photography I am having serious wedding DIY withdrawals. Exactly 7 months ago today, Peter and I got married at the beautiful Apple Creek Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley and if I’m being honest, the thing I miss the most about that day:  Planning for that day. It truly consumed me. Because of the barn setting and the open fields, it was so important to me that the decor reflected the venue and the overall whimsical and backyard-family like vibe we were going for. I coined ...Read More
For our final destination on our honeymoon extravaganza, we we headed to beautiful Santorini, Greece where we stayed at the Canaves Oia Hotel. Santorini is located in the southwest of the Cyclades Islands cluster. We flew from Rome to Athens, and Athens to Santorini; the flight was about 45 minutes. There are two towns that people usually stay in on Santorini: Fira or Oia. We opted for Oia for several reasons- but mostly it was because we wanted to end our trip with 4 days of pure NOTHING. This was our chance to relax, soak in the sun, the views, and the wine. And boy, it could not have been better. Day 1 With ...Read More
When we started thinking about our honeymoon, we turned to Katie of Ever After Honeymoons for some serious guidance. We got married in March but our honeymoon wouldn’t be until mid June. It’s not too often that two adults with full careers, an MBA program (for Peter), and a child are able to take 2 weeks off… from it all! So we felt pretty lucky. Of course, our budget wasn’t unlimited, so we had to do some careful planning. With Katie’s help, we decided we’d go to Italy and Greece and stay in 3 cities. First Stop: Amalfi Coast, Italy With Katie’s guidance, we opted for the stunningly gorgeous Palazzo Avino in Ravello. ...Read More
