Right now I’m on a meal planning kick. I’m not just focusing on dinners though. Instead, I’ve got my mind on lunches– trying to come up with easy ways to continue to eat clean (when I’m not eating “Klean”) and not just grab a handful of pretzels and hummus and call it a lunch. Working from home, it’s pretty easy to graze- this is an issue I know for a lot of moms both working and stay at home. So in an effort to fight the cabinet-calling monsters and eat well-balanced meals, I’ve been scouring Pinterest for inspiration and ideas. One of the recent pins I saw was for a crock ...Read More
Lately, when it comes to taking care of my skin, I feel like I’m on the fast pass-express lane on the freeway– I could have been driving in the other 5 lanes like a normal person for years, but now I need to catch up — Buy whatever it takes to get me where I need to go before my time runs out.  I’m not sure what took me so long to get on the healthy skin bandwagon, but here I am. Almost 38 years old and basically playing catch up. For years now, I’ve relied on family genes to justify my lack of attention to taking care of my skin. ...Read More
I’m pretty sure at some point since the inception of Perfectly Disheveled, I’ve confessed how every now and again (every time) I go to Traders Joe’s (or Costco… or Whole Foods… or any supermarket, really), I hope and pray that there is some sort of “stample,” as Jonah calls it, being given out.  Luckily, there’s a TJ’s in my hood and I can always guarantee that no matter what time I’m there, there will be a jolly guy with a beard serving up some sort of brilliant, but totally funky concoction. Fried rice with honey and spinach feta balls?  Who knew?! A few weeks ago, they were giving out samples of ...Read More
For the past few months, Thursday nights have become a “date night” for me and Jonah. Peter is at school on Thursdays (getting his MBA in the evenings), so often times, I use the opportunity to take Jonah out for a bite to eat after his karate… just the two of us. As luck would have it, my kid loves sushi (and by love, I mean I usually need to cut him off) and I love my son (and sushi) so it’s really a win-win sitch. Well, as I sat across the table from a hungry 6-year old last night who couldn’t get albacore with crispy onions into his mouth fast ...Read More
Almost two weeks ago, I  started to write a post…. March 26th. 10:30am… As I type this post, I’m sitting under a heat lamp with foils in my hair and a latte by my side. With just 72 hours to go until I say “I Do,” I’m in full bridal beautification mode and if I’m being honest, it’s kind of the best part of the planning process. This week, I’ve had, in no partcicular order (certainly not by rank of what hurts the worst): My eyebrows shaped and tweezed, waxing, laser hair removal, (Judaism = Hair issues), a manicure/pedicure, and now a cut, highlights, gloss and blowout. In just a couple hours (oh, ...Read More
I’m a girl who likes a plan. I thrive on order and system. A Virgo through and through, there is no detail “too detailed” and no perfecting “too perfect.”  So you can imagine how out of my little Type A comfort zone I feel right now, battling a head cold. Nine. Days. Before. The. Wedding. Sniff. As I sneeze all over the computer typing this and sipping my coffee, (Oh, you thought I’d say “tea,” huh? Yah, right. I’m getting married in 9 days, work full time and have a 6 year old. Coffee it is), I realize that there are actually a  few things that I have ZERO control over. And ...Read More
I love planning parties! But when it comes to cleaning up after a party… well… not so much. When I teamed up with Glad to host a clothing swap for a bunch of my girlfriends, they assured me that they would show us that cleaning up could be fun. That’s right: FUN.  Glad Black Bag is celebrating life’s best moments and making sure that no matter the mess left behind cleanups are in the bag with its “Trash Crasher” Bashes. From tossing our “trashy tacos” and bagging our once-beloved duds that we were donating to charities, a team of trash-crashing ninjas (aka #TrashCrashers) descended on the house and swooped up our ...Read More
A few weeks ago, I was showered with love by some family and dear friends at one of the best bridal showers I’ve ever been to! I promise, I’m not just saying that because it was for me… Okay, well that definitely helped, but honestly, the hosts of this party happen to be chic, creative, and extraordinarily generous so each and every element blew me away. From the flowers, to the party favors, to food and of course, some very special gifts, I walked away not only feeling very lucky an special, but also with some great ideas for future parties of my own! Because of the attention and time that ...Read More
Last month, I teamed up with Glad®  to host a party like no other. Perched at the top of the hills overlooking Los Angeles, I invited some of my most stylish friends and fellow bloggers to join me for a night of fashion, fun and food. I knew my friends had great taste and great wardrobes, but honestly, I didn’t realize how great until I saw the amazing new duds everyone got to go hoem with. While I didn’t take home anything from the swap, except some fabulous jewelry from my girl at GROCK LA, I was shocked by how many designer and trendy items the girls left with. (Um, PS. ...Read More
Exciting news! I’m now a contributor to Disney’s Spoonful, a fabulous resource for crafts, recipes and activities for parents and kids.  For my first post, I whipped up a little Oscar Party with some “perfectly partied” panache. Oftentimes, Oscar Parties are geared toward being “adults-only” fêtes. But since the Oscars are on a Sunday and everyone I know has kids under the age of 9, the days of lounging around the house in sweats, glued to the television for eight hours (with copious cocktails present), are a distant memory. That said, this is still very much a part of my DNA and a tradition that I can’t entirely shake. So ...Read More
