Style & Beauty

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of having lunch with my friend, author and trend/marketing expert Jane Buckingham. Jane is one of those people who you could talk to all day… She is not only brilliant and interesting, but she’s polite, poised and elegant. We’re not that far apart in age, but I want to be her when I grow up. I asked her if I could share one of her posts from “The Modern Girls Guide to Raising Decent Daughters” — Though I’m trying to raise a decent son (or mensch), I love the issues Jane raises and the insight she has to parenting….  Here’s a post about ...Read More
Over the past several months, as a member of eBay’s Parent Panel, I have had the great pleasure of meeting some fantastic bloggers and influencers, as well as eBay staffers and executives. Everyone comes to the table with different backgrounds, but the thing that brings us together really is an interest in SELLING! Although I list frequently now, I am definitely still getting the hang of the “how to”– But  thanks to Top Sellers on our team like Tristen O’Brien,  I’ve been learning some great tips and tricks along the way. Recently, I touched base with Tristen who shared with me how he got his start as a full ...Read More
Spring is here… So ’tis time to purge some of mama’s wardrobe and make some extra cashola so I can pay for the cute striped maxi that I haaaaaaaad to have. (It’s important to be current, isn’t it?) So, as they say, “out with the old, in with the new.” I considered having a garage sale but with eBay at my finger tips and a knack on selling, I figured it was worth a shot to list some things in my closet that I think are cute for Spring, (see below) and in perfect condition- some even NEW WITH TAGS, that just aren’t fitting me right anymore. With visions of ...Read More
I don’t know when it happened but these days, I cannot look into a mirror to see what I look like. It’s like I see the reflection, but I don’t really see it…. So what do I do? I take a picture. (Before you really start to call me ca-razy, know that I only do this when I’m trying to decide on an outfit for something really important…. As if that makes any sense or is any better). do actually like my body (most days) and feel good about myself (a lot). So I’m not sure this is about some deep seeded disorder or insecurity…. I’m wondering if digital ...Read More
Two weeks ago, I had the great pleasure of joining about 20 or so other bloggers that make up the eBay Parent Panel at the eBay headquarters in San Jose. In addition to fun dinners and outings, our two days were filled with sessions about selling on eBay. To say that I learned a thing or two about all things “how to” eBay and that I wanted to come home and start selling immediately, would be an understatement. Sitting through these sessions, I was so deeply inspired and excited: There is NOTHING that can’t be sold. From coupons to handbags to old appliances or cords, I realized I was sitting ...Read More
After making my first sell on eBay, I decided I was going to try out selling something I consider as important as air: Accessories! I recently bought a ton of jewelry from Forever 21 for an event that I never used or wore (and you can’t return it)… So why not turn my “trash,” so to speak, into another woman’s treasure… And make a little extra cash. As an eBay Parent Panel ambassador, I’m excited to continue experimenting with buying and selling. Here’s a little video I shot about my process including an extra vid so you can see the product up close. Oh, and in case you want ...Read More
Who cares about New Year’s Resolutions or getting caught Facebook Stalking when you can finally book a vacation to Turks & Caicos? Well, okay, I may be getting ahead of myself here… But based on what I’m about to tell you, I’m feeling pretty confident that some sort of luxurious escape, replete with cabana boys and cocktails is in my near future…. Why? Because I’m working with eBay! I’m very excited to announce that I have been asked to serve as an ambassador on the eBay Parent Panel! Now, here’s the deal. I’m not a master eBay seller at all. In fact, I have to be honest, I’ve never even sold anything ...Read More

Ho, friggin’, ho. ‘Tis the season to be jolly… and make fun of holiday sweaters. Whether the lit up mall and long lines for Santa are getting you in the holiday spirit or not, one thing is for certain, this time of year, especially for parents, is pure madness. From holiday parties at schools, to gifts for teachers, to scheduling play dates and plans while school’s out, our dance card is full… And that’s not including the holiday work parties and family/friend get togethers (where I pray that the egg nog is spiked and the latkes are extra crispy). A few weeks ago, my girl Robin Saperstein of High Heel ...Read More

Earlier this year, Robin Saperstein of High Heel in a Haystack and I met and as I’ve said before, I was convinced we were not only separated at birth, but that we shared a deeply stylish karmic fashion connection. Robin, a fashion stylist based here in Los Angeles gave me a complete wardrobe makeover. Not only did she go through my closet and help me determine which clothes shouted 1993 and needed to be bagged immediately, but she put together some fantastic looks for me that inspired me to continue to think about style and actually enjoy getting dressed (in something other than yoga pants and my American Apparel pullover). Well ...Read More
The other day I noticed a picture on my phone that Jonah must have taken one morning during a round of “Mommy, what does this button do.” I have to be honest, at first glance, I saw nothing but blur and went to delete it. But then I took a second look, “Do my thighs look as great as I think they do here?” Totally self absorbed and obnoxious as it may sound, the photo gave me that sort of… “hmmph” feeling… The kind of feeling when you try you try on a pair of jeans you think will look terrible, but lo and behold, your butt actually looks ...Read More
