A Little Life

This week marks my one year wedding anniversary with Peter. This year has been a whirlwind of life… We’ve traveled across the sea, jumped into oceans, walked on ancient ruins, eaten our weight in pizza, danced silly dances with a 7 year old… We’ve experienced so much joy and even heartbreak. But here we are, one year later a family of three expecting one more…
There is so much I could say about the fact that Jonah will be a big brother, and Peter a father, and me a second time mom… All of that I will get to over the next few months… Believe me, from maternity fashion, to nursery decor, ...Read More
You know those moments as a parent where you just give up? Where you just say, “Fine, eat the cookie,” “Okay, download another game,” “Yes, you can watch a violent, inappropriate movie/show, video?”
Oh, no? You don’t know those moments? Oh, sorry. I think you’ve come to the wrong blog then. Head to my Pinterest page though where everything looks perfect my Pinterest page though where I make it look like I’m perfect…aI
So… I don’t know if it’s just my 7 year old, but lately, everything ends in “Awww,” or “Not fair,” or “Okay, fine but you have to___” (fill in the blank with something I have to do for him because somehow he’s ...Read More
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…
It’s been a while since I told a Jonah story and so let me share a good one. Okay… two good ones.
The first one is from a few months ago. The night before Jonah turned 7, we asked him if there was anything he wanted to say during his final hours as a 6 year old.
“Anything?” he said excitedly.
“Yes, anything.”
“Anything, like, in the world?”
“Yep. Anything at all.”
“Okay,” he gulped. “Mother fucker.”
We burst into laughter, then composed ourselves, then burst back into laughter again and then put our (tilted/twisted) parenting hat on and I asked:
“Where did you learn that?”
“From you! Where else?”
I can’t help but ...Read More
I could write a really long intro about the announcement I’m about to make, but let me just cut to the chase: Our wedding has been featured on J.Crew and I am literally bursting at the seams with excitement!!! JCREW. AHHH!
In August 2013, just a few weeks after Peter proposed, I was lucky to have to go New York to shoot some videos with LifetimeMoms. While I was there, I not only ate my weight in pizza and champagne with one of my besties, BUT I made an appointment at the JCrew bridal salon on 5th Ave just cuz.
The Percy gown was the second dress I tried on… Simple, elegant, comfortable and ...Read More
From our wedding invitations and save the dates, to thank you notes and holiday and New Year’s cards, it’s pretty safe to say that Minted is my go to site for all things stationary. 2014 has been an incredible year filled with so many rich moments and memories. It’s important to me to find cards that reflect these sentiments and joy — but that doesn’t require a completely focused brain to create or order. (i.e. doesn’t require me to realize that when I order a $3.99 Frozen Elsa wand with stickers for my niece, that I should not select shipping for $27.99 to get it to me the next day. Ooops. ...Read More
Exactly two years ago this week, I came home from a 3 day trip to Haiti on a mission with Ladies’ Home Journal, Crocs Cares, and Feed the Children to deliver shoes to school children. It was the best time of my life and the worst time of my life. To travel so far and literally outside my comfort zone to a world I would have never imagined traveling to, and to be in a position to take some part (albeit, small) in helping children in need: The Best.
The worst: To be so far away from home and to know that when I do get home, teaching my child what gratitude really is, in a world ...Read More
Growing up in Southern California, every year my family had a tradition of going to Knott’s Berry Farm during the holidays. When the temperature dropped, and Thanksgiving/ Christmas Break mode kicked in, we headed to Knott’s for a day of fun and of course, funnel cake and fried chicken. As a mom, it’s now such a joy to recreate this tradition and introduce my son to the holiday season at Knott’s Merry Farm.
Knott’s is such a great destination for our family that we’ve decided to become Season Passholders. Right now, New passholders can purchase a 2015 Season Pass today and use it for one 2014 visit! Plus, visit additional days ...Read More
If you ask Jonah what he wants as a gift for his birthday or a holiday he’ll quickly tell you: “Something science-y.” I’m pretty sure his love of all things science started when we were flipping through the television and he saw footage of a volcano erupting… This led to begging to see more volcanoes erupt, which led to an interest in rocks, which led to an interest in the earth (and geology), which led to an interest in other planets and space.
These days, we’re on to genetics. Yes, my 7-year old is now obsessed with DNA. For a recent birthday, (or nothing… because he has a family of adoring ...Read More
At a certain point, I thought Jonah’s love of bathroom talk (read: all things poop and fart) would sort of dwindle… With age, a bigger interest in sports, video games and Lego sets that have wiped out my savings, I just figured the potty talk would die.
Oh, silly, woman. How wrong you were.
Nope, poop talk is still a hit. And it’s even better when you’re 7 years-old and the other (grown) male in the house is right there with you in this topic. Many a night has a bedtime routine been derailed as a fart escapes one of them… Turning my house into a Beevis and Butthead sketch. (Butthead. Ha, if Jonah ...Read More
For our final destination on our honeymoon extravaganza, we we headed to beautiful Santorini, Greece where we stayed at the Canaves Oia Hotel.
Santorini is located in the southwest of the Cyclades Islands cluster. We flew from Rome to Athens, and Athens to Santorini; the flight was about 45 minutes. There are two towns that people usually stay in on Santorini: Fira or Oia. We opted for Oia for several reasons- but mostly it was because we wanted to end our trip with 4 days of pure NOTHING. This was our chance to relax, soak in the sun, the views, and the wine. And boy, it could not have been better.
Day 1
With ...Read More
